Job Summary

At HLT, our Content Managers build and execute the strategy for delivering market-leading mobile and web content for each app in our suite of educational products, all to serve the lifelong educational needs of HLT’s community of learners. Content Managers serve as mobile learning experts, designing and delivering content solutions to serve the instructional and assessment needs of existing and new apps. They recruit and retain the best authors, and they maintain thriving relationships with leading publishing partners.

Responsibilities and Duties

  • Develop and execute the content plan for market-leading products managed by the Content Manager
  • Administer content development projects, user profiles, and purchasing packages within HLT’s bespoke content management system
  • Work with existing authors and also recruit and retain the best possible authors and teachers; nurture long-term author relationships and help them succeed
  • Partner with authors, Subject Matter Experts, and Advisory Panels to continually improve the quality of published content, and help develop new and innovative learning resources to serve the needs of HLT’s learner community
  • Apply psychometric data to continual improvement and enrichment projects
  • Research the learning and training needs for all aspects of mobile and web content for our institutional and individual customers
  • Participate in market validation across customer segments and collect and analyze appropriate data to guide planning and decision-making
  • Participate actively in the education technology community and share insights with HLT community
  • Anticipate emerging trends in technology education needs and develop plans to address those needs
  • Help improve processes for analyzing items, tests, instructional materials, and other content and for designing and executing app development projects
  • Perform other duties as may be assigned

Qualifications and Skills

  • Demonstrated experience in education technology and practices
  • Active in the online education community including existing relationships (and/or demonstrated ability to build relationships) with quality authors
  • Demonstrated experience managing a development team, preferably content, through all phases of development
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate with team members in a variety of ways and communication styles in order to develop and strengthen relationships
  • Efficient manager of self, ideas, and projects
  • Ability to work in a collaborative environment that emphasizes quality, rigor, and critical thinking
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills including technical presentation, public speaking, interpersonal, and writing and editing skills
  • Demonstrated ability to work within large and complex content management systems or similar databases
  • Commitment to continual process improvement
  • Strong problem-solving skill
  • BA or BS (or equivalent degree) required
  • 2+ years required in some combination of education and/or project management
